Hey all, Just finished listening to the 3M Q3 earnings call, and I'm trying to parse what it means for us on the ground. They talked a lot about restructuring and focusing on core businesses, which is standard corporate speak, but the tone felt a bit more... urgent? There was a lot of emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining operations.' They mentioned the macroeconomic headwinds, which we all know about, but it felt like they were setting the stage for something. No direct mention of layoffs, of course. They'd never do that on a public call. But I'm wondering if anyone else picked up on subtle cues. Were there any departments or business units that seemed to get more scrutiny or less optimistic outlooks? I'm in [mention a general area like 'Materials Science' or 'Supply Chain'] and things have been stable but quiet. Too quiet? Curious to hear if anyone else has insights or heard anything from their managers that might shed light on this. Trying to stay ahead of things if possible.

The 'urgent' tone and focus on efficiency definitely stand out. It’s easy to dismiss it as standard corporate jargon, but when layered with constant talk of streamlining and restructuring, it often precedes significant operational changes. While they didn't mention layoffs directly, that level of emphasis on efficiency and core business focus can sometimes be a precursor to workforce adjustments down the line as they reallocate resources or eliminate redundancies. Keep an eye on any further divisional realignments or strategic shifts announced soon.
