Anyone else seeing a freeze on external roles, even for critical positions?

Been trying to get approval for a couple of key hires on my team for months now. Suddenly, all external requisitions are on hold, no exceptions. HR is giving vague answers about 'strategic realignment' and 'evaluating needs'. We're already stretched thin and losing people to competitors who *are* hiring. It feels like we're setting ourselves up for failure, or maybe this is just the prelude to something bigger. Anyone else in a similar boat? What are your managers saying, or are they just as clueless/tight-lipped?

Yup, same here. External offers are stalled indefinitely. We were told it's a company-wide pause on external hiring as they 'reassess priorities'. It's incredibly frustrating when you're already drowning and need to bring in talent to keep things afloat. My manager is just as baffled and keeps saying to 'hang tight' but that doesn't help with the current workload. Feels like we're being set up to fail or just being asked to do more with less indefinitely.

Definitely experiencing the same. All external hiring has been frozen for weeks, citing a need to 'optimize our workforce strategy'. It's creating a lot of anxiety on my team because we have critical gaps that aren't being addressed. People are leaving, and we can't replace them. The lack of clear communication from leadership is the most concerning part. Feels like we're in the dark about what's really going on.
