Yeah, I'm seeing some of that too. It's definitely unsettling when projects that seemed solid suddenly get put on ice. My team was supposed to kick off a major Q4 initiative, and now we're being told to focus on 'sustaining existing work' with no clear end date for the pause. My manager is equally vague, which just adds to the anxiety. Feels like there's a bigger budget crunch happening than management is letting on. Hope it's just a temporary lull.
Are you sure it's a company-wide thing, or could it be specific to your divisions? Sometimes R&D and other departments operate on different budget cycles or have different strategic imperatives. "Reassessing priorities" is corporate speak for 'we don't know what's happening or how to tell you.' Try to gather more specific data points if you can, rather than relying on general vibes. Maybe discreetly ask around in finance or procurement if you have trusted contacts there.
