Hiring freeze confirmed? Seeing it across multiple divisions.

Has anyone else noticed a complete halt on external hiring across the board? My team's been trying to backfill a critical role for months, and HR keeps saying 'no approvals available' or 'focusing on internal mobility.' Then I hear similar stories from friends in completely different business units. It feels like more than just a temporary slowdown. The usual 'resource reallocation' speak is getting old, and frankly, the workload is becoming unsustainable. If they're not hiring, and people are leaving naturally, it's effectively a headcount reduction, right? Just wish they'd be upfront about it instead of this slow bleed. Anyone else feeling this or hearing anything more concrete?

I've been hearing whispers about this too. It's definitely more than just a typical slow period. The 'internal mobility' push sounds like a nice way of saying they don't want to spend the money on new hires. My department is stretched so thin right now, it's getting hard to keep up with the existing workload, let alone take on new projects. Hopefully, it's a temporary situation, but the lack of transparency is concerning.

Yeah, my team is feeling the pinch as well. We've had a critical role open for ages, and it's just sitting there. The 'no approvals' line is becoming a broken record. It makes it tough to plan, and honestly, the stress levels are pretty high when everyone's overloaded. It's disappointing because 3M used to be known for its growth and investment in talent. This feels like a step backward.
