Is anyone else's team suddenly understaffed with no explanation?

Been hearing a lot of chatter, and experiencing it firsthand. My team seems to have lost a couple of people over the last month or so – not through resignations that I know of, just sort of... gone. And there's absolutely no sign of backfilling or even acknowledgement of the increased workload. We're all picking up the slack, and the pressure is mounting. It feels like management is trying to quietly shed headcount without making any big announcements. Anyone else in a similar situation where their team is suddenly short-handed and expectations haven't changed? Wondering if this is a coordinated effort or just isolated incidents.

Yeah, this sounds incredibly familiar. It feels like a widespread thing happening across multiple departments. The lack of communication is the most frustrating part. I've seen this pattern before in other companies, and it rarely ends well for morale or productivity. When you quietly reduce staff without addressing the workload, the remaining employees burn out.
