Slowdown in hiring and increased project scope - anyone else?

Been with 3M for a few years now, and things feel...different lately. We've had a noticeable slowdown in bringing on new people for the past few months. Even for roles that are clearly critical, the hiring process seems to be stalled or incredibly slow. At the same time, the scope and workload for existing projects seem to be expanding. My team, for example, is being asked to take on responsibilities that were previously handled by another group, but without any corresponding increase in headcount or resources. It feels like we're being asked to do more with less, and the lack of transparency is starting to cause some real anxiety. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a company-wide trend, or just specific divisions? Feels like the calm before a storm, but I can't shake the feeling something's up.

I've seen similar trends across different departments here. It feels like there's a strategic shift happening, maybe a move towards optimizing existing resources before expanding headcount. The pressure on current teams is definitely mounting, and it's creating a lot of extra work. Hopefully, this is a temporary phase and not a permanent change in how projects are managed.

That's exactly what's happening with us too. Hiring has been glacial for months, and yet the demands on our team are higher than ever. It's frustrating because it feels like we're expected to do more with less, and it's starting to impact morale. Curious if management has any plans to address this imbalance.
