Subtle shifts in hiring and project funding – is it just me?

I've been at 3M for a while now, and I'm noticing some pretty significant changes, though nothing's been officially announced. We've had a couple of key roles open for months that aren't being filled, and some of the smaller, experimental projects that usually get seed funding seem to be on indefinite hold. It feels like the purse strings are tightening, but not in a way that's being communicated clearly. It's more like a slow leak than a sudden announcement. My manager is being cagey when asked about future hiring plans, just giving vague answers about 'resource allocation.' This uncertainty is making it tough to plan, and honestly, it's creating a bit of anxiety. Wondering if others are seeing the same patterns and what it might mean down the line. Is anyone else experiencing this quiet shift?

Yeah, I'm seeing similar things. It's definitely not just you. The lack of communication is the most unsettling part. It creates a lot of uncertainty and makes it hard to plan, especially when you're working on projects that rely on that kind of sustained investment. Curious to see if there's any official word soon, or if this is just the new normal.
