Are managers suddenly less communicative about team direction?

Lately, I've noticed my manager (and others in my department, from what I've overheard) being really cagey about future projects and team goals. It used to be we'd have regular team meetings where we'd discuss the roadmap for the next quarter, but now it's all very vague. When I ask for clarification on priorities, I get a lot of 'we're still assessing' or 'focusing on current deliverables.' It feels like they're either holding information back intentionally, or they genuinely don't have a clear picture themselves. This lack of transparency is really unsettling, especially when you're trying to plan your work and understand your contribution. Anyone else experiencing this sudden communication dip? Makes you wonder what's going on behind closed doors.

I've definitely felt a shift in communication lately. It seems like the usual transparency around strategic direction has evaporated. Instead of clear roadmaps, we're getting a lot of 'heads down, focus on the now.' It’s creating a sense of unease about where we're heading long-term. Hoping this is a temporary phase and clarity will return soon.

This resonates with my experience too. The lack of forward-looking communication is palpable. It makes it hard to prioritize effectively when the ultimate goals feel so undefined. I'm trying to stay optimistic, but it's challenging to feel engaged and aligned when the bigger picture is so obscured.
