What's the deal with the project prioritization?

Been in my role for a few years now, and usually, project prioritization feels fairly straightforward. But lately, it feels like a constant battle. Projects that seemed like sure bets are getting stalled or scaled back, while brand new initiatives pop up with little explanation. It's making it really difficult to plan my team's workload and focus on what's truly impactful. Is this just a symptom of budget tightening, or is something else going on behind the scenes? Feels like resources are being stretched thin, and I'm worried about what this means for long-term goals and even job security if we can't deliver.
