Anyone else feel like training budgets are being slashed?

Hearing a lot of chatter about 'streamlining learning and development' lately. My training request for a critical certification got denied this week, with the justification being 'prioritization of client-facing activities.' Another colleague’s request for a specialized course was also shot down. It feels like the company is really pulling back on internal investment, and training is the first thing on the chopping block. I get the need to be efficient, but cutting back on skills development seems shortsighted. How are we supposed to stay competitive and deliver high-quality work if we're not investing in our people's growth? It's making me a bit nervous about where things are heading.

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. My team lead mentioned that L&D funds are being reallocated, and anything not directly tied to billable hours is getting shelved for now. It's a shame because those certifications can really boost our capabilities, which ultimately benefits clients too. Seems like a short-sighted approach, honestly.

Definitely feeling the pinch on training budgets. It's tough when you see opportunities to upskill being missed because of budget cuts. I've been trying to get approval for some industry-specific workshops that would make me more effective on projects, but it's a no-go. Hopefully, this is just a temporary phase.
