Anyone else noticing project scope creep turning into scope abandonment?

Been feeling this for a while now. We're getting these massive, ambitious project proposals, full of shiny new features and aggressive timelines. But then, as soon as we start digging in, or hitting the first few roadblocks, suddenly those features just 'aren't in scope anymore'. It feels like management is either over-promising to clients to win deals, or they're setting us up for failure so they can 'streamline' later. It's incredibly demoralizing to constantly be told we're behind schedule when the goalposts keep moving, or entire sections of work just vanish overnight. Is this a general trend, or just my specific account?

Oh yeah, definitely. It's like we spend months meticulously planning and scoping, only for the goalposts to move entirely once the real work begins. The initial excitement drains away so fast when key deliverables just vanish. Makes you wonder what the point of the initial detailed discussions even is. It's a tough environment to stay motivated in when you feel like the rug is constantly being pulled out from under you.

That sounds all too familiar. The disconnect between the signed contract and the day-to-day reality can be staggering. You pour energy into understanding complex requirements, and then suddenly, those requirements are deemed 'out of scope' without much explanation. It breeds an atmosphere of uncertainty and frustration, and frankly, it feels like a disservice to both the client and the team working tirelessly on the ground.
