Anyone else seeing headcount freezes and performance PIPs ramp up?

Been at Accenture for a few years now, primarily in the Strategy & Consulting practice. Lately, the vibe feels… off. We've had a 'hiring pause' for most non-critical roles for the last quarter, which wasn't a thing before. Couple that with a noticeable uptick in performance improvement plans (PIPs). It feels like they're trying to manage headcount down without openly saying so. Used to be that if you weren't a top performer, you were relatively safe, but now even solid performers are getting a lot of scrutiny. Wondering if this is an Accenture-specific thing or a broader consulting trend. Is it just my practice area, or is anyone else in different parts of the business experiencing this? Feels like the pressure is on to 'right-size' teams subtly before any bigger announcements, if they're even planned. Just trying to get a pulse on what's happening across the firm.

Totally feel this. My team's been quiet on hiring for ages, and the pressure to hit utilization targets feels more intense than ever. It's not just individual performance; it seems like a broader organizational push to streamline. Makes you wonder about the long-term strategy and how it impacts morale and employee growth opportunities.

Yeah, I've heard similar things across different service lines. The 'hiring pause' has been in effect for a while, and while PIPs are always part of the performance management cycle, the frequency seems higher. It creates a bit of anxiety, for sure. Makes people more cautious about taking on new initiatives or speaking up too much.
