Anyone else seeing increased scrutiny on utilization and billable hours?

Been at Accenture for a few years now, and the vibe has definitely shifted in the last couple of quarters. The usual chatter about 'optimizing resources' and 'driving efficiency' feels more intense lately. My project leads are pushing harder on utilization metrics, and I've seen a few instances where projects are being re-scoped or even put on hold for budget reviews that seem unusually thorough. It's not outright layoffs, not yet anyway, but it feels like the company is preparing for something or tightening the belt significantly. Anyone else experiencing this or hearing whispers about potential 'rightsizing' on the consulting side?

Yeah, it's not just you. The pressure cooker seems to have been turned up a notch around here. Project managers are definitely on the warpath about utilization. It feels like every hour is being tracked and questioned more than ever before. I've heard whispers of re-planning and tighter budget controls across the board. Feels like a general tightening of the belt, for sure.

Absolutely. The focus on billable hours has been relentless lately. It's almost as if every minute needs to be accounted for and justified. There's a definite sense of urgency around keeping utilization numbers high. Makes you wonder what the higher-ups are seeing or anticipating. It's definitely a noticeable shift from even a year ago.
