Headcount reduction whispers - anyone hearing this?

Been at Accenture for a few years now, mostly in the [redacted] practice. Lately, there's been a weird vibe. Projects aren't being staffed as quickly as they used to, and when they are, the teams seem leaner. Heard some chatter from managers about 'optimizing resource allocation' and 'streamlining project structures.' It's vague, but it feels like a euphemism for something more permanent. We had a big intake of new hires last year, and it feels like they're not getting the same opportunities or even being onboarded at the same pace. Trying to stay positive and focus on billables, but the underlying uncertainty is definitely there. Anyone else in similar situations or hearing more concrete rumors?

Yeah, definitely getting similar signals here. Feels like a lot of reshuffling, and the usual project ramp-ups are much slower. The buzzwords like 'optimization' are flying around, but it's hard not to interpret that as cost-cutting. It's concerning, especially seeing how many people were brought on recently. Hoping it's just a cyclical slowdown, but the atmosphere is definitely more tense than usual.

I've noticed it too, though I'm in a different practice. The project pipeline seems tighter, and there's a sense that every role is under scrutiny. 'Resource optimization' is the phrase I keep hearing from leadership. It's creating a bit of unease, for sure. Makes you wonder if the hiring sprees of the past couple of years were perhaps a bit too aggressive, leading to this current recalibration.
