Hiring freeze or something else going on?

Things feel really quiet on the hiring front. I know there are always ebbs and flows, but it's been months since I've seen any significant movement on new roles or even internal transfers being approved quickly. My team lead made some offhand comment about 'realigning resources' which sounded like corporate speak for 'we're not hiring and might be cutting'. It's not just my project either, I've heard similar whispers from folks in other service lines. Is anyone else experiencing this? It feels like more than just a seasonal slowdown. Trying to figure out if I should start updating the resume proactively or just wait it out.

Yeah, I've been feeling that too. It's definitely not just your group. The usual churn seems to have slowed way down, and it feels like approvals for anything beyond essential hires are taking forever. 'Realigning resources' is definitely the new buzzword for 'things are tight.' It's making planning for next quarter a bit of a guessing game. Hope it picks up soon.
