Manager suddenly super interested in my utilization report...

Has anyone else's manager started digging *really* deep into their utilization metrics recently? Mine usually just glances at it, but in the last couple of weeks, it's been detailed questions about every single hour logged, especially for non-billable activities. It feels like a bit of an interrogation. Usually, this happens when things are tight, but there haven't been any official announcements or anything. Just feels like a weird shift in focus, and it's making me paranoid.

Oh man, I totally get that feeling of being under a microscope. My manager did something similar a few months back, asking about every little gap in my timesheet. Turned out they were trying to justify a new internal tool and needed to show how much time we 'lost' on admin tasks. It was annoying, but at least there was a reason eventually. Hang in there, hopefully it's just a temporary data-gathering exercise for something else.

My manager's always been pretty hands-on with utilization, so this doesn't sound *that* out of the ordinary to me. Maybe it's just a new company-wide push for better time tracking accuracy? Sometimes these things are driven from higher up, and the managers just implement. Try to just be transparent and accurate with your logging; if you're doing the work, the hours should reflect it. Don't let it stress you out too much.
