The 'strategic restructuring' narrative is getting old, and honestly, it’s insulting at this point. We’ve been hearing the same corporate jargon for months while watching talented colleagues get the boot every few weeks. It’s impossible to focus on client work when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder wondering if your department is next. Leadership needs to stop pretending these numbers are just data points and start realizing that they are burning out the entire culture. The morale in my office has completely flatlined, and I don't see how they expect us to maintain quality when nobody feels like they have a future here anymore.
It's just business, unfortunately. I know it sucks to hear, but these cycles happen every few years in this industry. If you have high utilization and strong performance metrics, try to keep your head down and stay focused on your projects. The firm is obsessed with the stock price and quarterly targets, so they’ll keep cutting until the margins satisfy the street. It’s definitely a rough patch, but it’s the reality of working for a massive global consultancy. Keep your resume polished and stay active on LinkedIn, because at this level, you’re always just a resource code on a spreadsheet.
