Heard through the grapevine there might be some cuts coming to the marketing department. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself (and my finances) in case I'm affected. Does anyone have recent experience with Adobe severance packages? Specifically, I'm wondering about the formula they use (weeks per year of service?), continuation of benefits, and any gotchas to watch out for when signing the paperwork. Any insight is much appreciated.

I went through a layoff at Adobe a few years back (not in marketing, but hopefully the general principles still apply). The standard package was two weeks of base pay per year of service, with a minimum of 8 weeks. They also covered COBRA premiums for a period based on tenure – I think it was 3 months for me. The big "gotcha" is always the release you have to sign to get the package. Get it reviewed by an employment lawyer before you agree to anything. It's worth the expense to understand your rights.

Honestly, don't get too stressed about rumors. I've seen these things circulate for months and amount to nothing. Focus on your work, document your accomplishments, and make yourself indispensable. If cuts *do* happen, you'll be in a stronger position, regardless of the severance terms. Also, start networking internally and externally *now*, regardless of the rumors. A proactive approach is always better than waiting for the axe to fall.
