Affirm Q3: Rumblings or just seasonal slowdown?

Hey everyone, been seeing a lot of chatter on here about performance and staffing. I'm not hearing any direct layoff news, but there's definitely a different vibe lately. Projects seem to be getting scrutinized more, and there's talk of 'prioritization' that feels a bit like code for 'cutting back.' Is anyone else in engineering or product feeling this? Are we seeing resource reallocations or just the usual end-of-year budget tightening? It's hard to tell if this is a precursor to something bigger or just the normal ebb and flow of a fast-growing fintech company. Curious to hear what others are observing across different departments. Trying to gauge the general sentiment and if there's a broader trend happening that isn't being officially communicated. Anyone have insights on team impacts or hiring freezes?

I've definitely noticed the increased scrutiny on projects. It feels like every expense and every hour is being tracked much more closely than before. The 'prioritization' conversations are also more frequent, and it does seem to imply a shift in focus away from some of the moonshot ideas towards core business drivers. I haven't heard any direct layoff rumors either, but the general sense of belt-tightening is palpable across a few teams I interact with. Hopefully, it's just the typical year-end budget dance.

Echoing the sentiment. The 'vibe' has changed, for sure. More strategic discussions happening, and it feels like resources are being pooled towards high-impact initiatives. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as it can lead to clearer goals and less wasted effort. However, if you're on a project that's not deemed 'critical' right now, it can be a bit demotivating. Still too early to tell if this is a temporary seasonal slowdown or a more significant strategic pivot for the company.
