Is the culture shifting again post-February cuts?

It feels like we just finished digesting the news about the February 15th reductions and I’m already feeling the anxiety creep back into the office. The vibe is honestly at an all-time low. It feels like every time we turn around, there’s another layer of middle management getting shaved off or a product team getting gutted. I’ve been trying to stay focused on my OKRs, but it’s impossible to ignore the empty desks and the 'do more with less' mantra coming down from the top. Are we expecting another round in Q2, or is this it for a while? I’m hearing conflicting things from leadership—some say we’re leaning into efficiency, others are hinting that the current headcount is still 'not aligned with long-term goals.' I’m currently looking at the job market just to have a safety net, but it feels like everywhere is just as shaky. Anyone else feeling like they’re just waiting for the next calendar invite for a 'mandatory meeting' that ends in a severance package?

Honestly, the vibe isn’t just low—it’s nonexistent. The constant shuffling and restructuring have created a culture of paranoia where everyone is just waiting for the next shoe to drop. It’s hard to stay invested in OKRs when the leadership team keeps moving the goalposts and gutting the very teams needed to hit them. The 'do more with less' mantra is just corporate speak for burnout at this point. I’ve started looking elsewhere because the uncertainty is exhausting and the loyalty isn't being reciprocated.

I get the frustration, but it seems like this is just the new baseline for the industry, not just here. It sucks seeing good people leave, but staying hyper-focused on your own output is the only way to insulate yourself right now. The market is forcing everyone to pivot toward profitability, which inevitably means trimming the fat. Instead of reading too much into every empty desk, just tighten your focus on your core projects and make yourself as essential as possible. It’s a grind, but it’s the reality we’re in.
