Aflac - Anyone else noticing the 'quiet' budget freezes?

Is it just my department, or is everyone seeing the freeze on even the most basic software licenses and travel requests? My manager is being extremely cagey about Q3 and Q4 budget approvals. Usually, by this time of year, we have a clear path for the next fiscal cycle, but everything is currently marked as 'pending review' indefinitely. I’ve heard whispers of the usual 'efficiency drive' coming down from the top, but leadership is playing it very cool in the town halls. I'm starting to get that uneasy feeling again. If you work in middle management or corporate strategy, are you seeing actual numbers, or is it just 'we are optimizing resources' smoke and mirrors? Trying to gauge if I should polish the resume now before the inevitable Q4 'restructuring' hits right before the holidays. It feels like we are in a holding pattern waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I’ve been seeing the exact same thing in my division. It’s definitely not just you. My manager keeps dodging questions about tool renewals, and suddenly every minor expense requires a VP-level sign-off. The 'efficiency drive' talk is a major red flag that usually precedes restructuring. It feels like they are tightening the purse strings to make the balance sheet look better before the next quarterly report, and the ambiguity from leadership is honestly more stressful than just coming out and saying what is happening. Keep your resume updated.
