I hear you. It's unsettling when things go quiet and communication dries up, especially after 5 years there. Could be a standard end-of-year lull or budget re-evaluation period, but the vagueness from management is definitely a red flag. Maybe start casually chatting with colleagues in other departments to see if they're noticing similar trends? Sometimes a quiet division can be isolated. Keep your resume updated just in case, but don't panic yet.
My experience at Agilent has been pretty solid overall, but I've definitely seen periods of quietness before. Usually, it's leading up to some internal restructuring or a big product refresh that's being kept under wraps. Managers get cagey when they can't share details yet. Don't jump to conclusions. Focus on doing your job well and observing. If things don't pick up or become clearer in another month or two, then it might be time to worry more seriously.
