Performance reviews felt... different this cycle.

So, just finished my performance review for the year, and honestly, it felt a bit more intense than usual. My manager was emphasizing 'efficiency' and 'impact' more than ever, and there were some pointed questions about project outcomes. It wasn't a bad review by any means, but the tone felt like they were looking for specific justifications for headcount. I know it's standard for reviews to focus on performance, but this felt like a preamble to something else, maybe? Has anyone else experienced this shift in the review process? Are they just ramping up accountability, or is this part of a larger cost-cutting or restructuring effort that hasn't been communicated? Just trying to gauge the temperature across different departments within LSer.

Yeah, I noticed a similar shift in my review at Agilent. It definitely felt like there was a stronger emphasis on quantifiable results and proving immediate value. It's understandable given the economic climate, but it did make me reflect on how my contributions are being perceived and measured. Hopefully, it just means they're trying to be more strategic in resource allocation.

I can relate. My performance review at Agilent also had a heightened focus on efficiency and demonstrated impact. It wasn't necessarily negative, but the underlying message seemed to be about optimizing workflows and ensuring every role is delivering clear, measurable outcomes. It's a good reminder for all of us to be prepared to articulate the 'why' behind our work and its direct contribution to the company's goals.
