AIG - Is the hiring freeze real or am I missing something?

Hey all, Been with AIG for a few years now, and lately things feel… different. Not sure if it's just my department or a broader thing, but it feels like the brakes are on. Open roles seem to be evaporating, and even internal transfers are getting shot down left and right. My manager is being super vague when asked about headcount for next quarter. Is anyone else experiencing a hiring slowdown? Are teams being told to hold off on backfills? I haven't seen any official announcements or anything concrete, but the rumor mill is always buzzing, and this feels like a definite shift from how things were even six months ago. Trying to get a sense if this is a company-wide strategy or just isolated incidents. Any insights from different divisions would be appreciated. Curious if this is a sign of impending budget cuts or just a temporary pause.

Yeah, I'm seeing something similar over here, though maybe not as drastic. It's definitely a strange vibe. Managers seem hesitant to discuss future roles or even confirm if positions that have opened up will actually be filled. It's making planning and even just feeling secure about workload a bit of a challenge. Makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is if they're not bringing in new talent or replacing departing folks.

I haven't heard anything official either, but the rumor mill is churning. It feels like there's definitely a tightening of the purse strings happening. Even if it's not a full-on freeze, there's a clear slowdown in approvals for new hires and backfills. It's impacting team capacity and causing a bit of anxiety about whether we'll have the resources to meet upcoming goals. Hopefully, there will be some clarity soon.
