Anyone else seeing more 'voluntary' departures being encouraged?

Lately, it feels like management is really pushing the idea of 'career changes' and 'pursuing new opportunities' for folks who might not be hitting the absolute top tier. It's not outright firings, but there's definitely a subtle pressure. More 'performance improvement plans' that seem designed to encourage people to look elsewhere. And the severance packages offered for those who 'choose' to leave seem a little more generous than usual, almost like they're trying to buy people out quietly. Has anyone else gotten this vibe? Feels like a way to trim headcount without the messy public optics of actual layoffs. Curious if this is just my department or a wider trend.

Yeah, I've been feeling that vibe too. It's like they're trying to streamline without making the headlines. My team lead mentioned something about 'optimizing talent' recently, which felt a bit too corporate for my liking. Definitely makes you wonder if it's time to polish the resume and see what's out there, just in case. Better to be prepared than caught off guard, right?

Interesting you bring this up. I haven't noticed anything drastic, but there have been a few whispers. Could just be a seasonal thing or a strategic reshuffle. Companies always do these things. Unless you're directly impacted or hear concrete details, I'd try not to overthink it. Focus on your own performance and if any changes directly affect you, address them then. Sometimes the rumor mill gets ahead of itself.
