I hear you loud and clear. That 'do more with less' mantra has become the official soundtrack of the office lately. It’s a classic move to see how much they can squeeze out of us before anyone snaps. The lack of backfilling isn't an oversight; it's a strategy to keep margins looking good while we burn out. I've stopped volunteering for extra projects because it’s clear that effort isn't rewarded with support, only with more work. Don't set yourself on fire to keep their bottom line warm.
Same boat here. It’s honestly insulting how they frame the burnout as a 'focus on efficiency' rather than admitting they’re understaffed and unwilling to pay for talent. The silence on headcount is definitely a message in itself. I’ve reached the point where I do my contracted hours and nothing more. If the work doesn't get finished, it's a management failure, not mine. They aren't going to fix this unless the output drops significantly, so stop killing yourself to cover for their inability to manage resources properly.
