Hiring Freeze Rumors - Anyone seeing this firsthand?

Hey folks, been with AP for a few years now, mostly in R&D. Lately, it feels like the spigot on new hires has been turned off. My manager's been pretty cagey, but we had a recent 'town hall' where the VP was doing a lot of vague talk about 'optimizing resources' and 'strategic realignment.' Didn't directly say no hiring, but the vibe was definitely 'we're not bringing in many new faces.' Anyone else in different departments noticing this? Is it a company-wide thing or just specific divisions feeling the pinch? Trying to gauge if this is a temporary pause or something more serious down the line. Feels weird when you see job postings still up but hear nothing about interviews getting scheduled. Just trying to get a sense of the temperature out there.

Yeah, I'm hearing similar whispers in operations. We had a project that was supposed to kick off with some new headcount, but it seems to have been put on indefinite hold. It's frustrating when you're trying to grow a team and manage workload, only to have this kind of uncertainty hanging over you. The 'optimizing resources' talk is a classic corporate euphemism for belt-tightening. Hopefully, it's just a temporary pause and not a sign of bigger issues down the line.

My team in procurement hasn't seen any new hires approved for months. We had a requisition out for a critical role that just got 'paused' with no clear timeline for reopening. The VP's language about 'strategic realignment' feels like they're preparing for a downturn or looking to cut costs in less visible areas first. I’d keep an eye on official communications and maybe start polishing up your resume, just in case. It's always better to be prepared.
