Anyone else's manager suddenly acting super weird?

Okay, I need to know if this is just me or if anyone else is experiencing this. My manager, who has always been pretty chill, is suddenly breathing down my neck about every little thing. Like, asking for updates multiple times a day, questioning my priorities, and just generally being…intense. I've been here in Engineering for almost 5 years and never seen him act this way. Is anyone else seeing changes in their managers' behavior? I'm starting to get a really bad feeling about this. Are they prepping for something, or am I just paranoid? I'm trying to figure out if I need to polish up my resume.

I've seen similar things happen before, usually when there's some sort of reorg or performance review period coming up. Sometimes managers get pressured from above to 'improve performance,' and unfortunately, that translates to micromanaging their teams. It's frustrating, but try to document everything he's asking for, along with the time it takes to fulfill those requests. If it's significantly impacting your ability to do your actual job, you can bring that up to him (or HR, if necessary) with concrete examples.

Honestly, sounds like typical manager behavior during pre-layoff jitters. Happened to me at my last company. Suddenly everything was urgent, priorities shifted hourly, and my boss acted like I was personally responsible for the company's stock price. Start polishing your resume, just in case. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Also, keep an eye on who else is getting this treatment; it might give you a clue about who's on the chopping block.
