Definitely feeling this at Airbnb. My team's been put on an indefinite hiring freeze, and projects that were greenlit just a month ago are now being questioned. My manager's hinting at a shift in focus towards core offerings and cost optimization, which frankly feels like a step back from the rapid expansion we've seen. It's a bit unnerving to see the momentum slow down so abruptly after such a long period of aggressive hiring and investment.
Yep, it's a widespread sentiment. My department's been told to be extra judicious with any spending, and even internal travel requests are being scrutinized more heavily. The talk is all about efficiency and maximizing existing resources rather than bringing in new talent or launching experimental initiatives. It makes sense from a business perspective given the current economic climate, but it does change the day-to-day atmosphere considerably. Less 'moonshot' energy, more 'watch the pennies'.
