Sorry to hear about the layoff. 2 months feels light for 2.5 years. Definitely push for 3, especially if you can quantify your contributions to that key project. Did it generate X% revenue or save Y amount of expenses? Lay it on thick. Also, negotiate the benefits continuation. One month is nothing. Try for at least 3 to match the severance. Good luck!
Honestly, those standard packages are pretty set in stone, especially at larger companies like Airbnb. They've probably got a formula and lawyers involved. You can try, but be prepared for them to say no. Outplacement services might be the most valuable part – really leverage those! Brush up your resume, practice your interviewing, and network like crazy. That's where you'll find your next job, not in squeezing another month's salary out of them.
