My manager's been acting super cagey about team structure moving forward

Okay, so I'm in Trust & Safety, been here ~3 years. For the past month, my manager keeps dodging direct questions about our team's roadmap for Q3/Q4. When asked about headcount or potential reorgs, they just give platitudes about 'adapting' and 'streamlining'. I heard through a skip-level that some roles might be consolidated. It's making it really hard to plan my work and feel secure. I haven't seen any official comms, but this level of evasiveness is really unsettling. Anyone else's management team being this weirdly secretive? Trying to figure out if this is a company-wide thing or just my department.

Ugh, that sounds incredibly frustrating and anxiety-inducing. I've been in a similar boat before where management was super vague about future plans, and it made it almost impossible to prioritize tasks effectively. The lack of clear communication breeds uncertainty, and it's completely understandable why you'd feel unsettled. Hopefully, something concrete will come out soon so you can get back to planning. Try to document any conversations you have, even the platitudes, just in case it's helpful later.

Sounds like typical corporate shuffle. 'Adapting' and 'streamlining' usually means someone's job is on the chopping block or they're just rearranging deck chairs. Don't read too much into the vagueness unless you hear something more substantial. Focus on what you *can* control right now, deliver on your current projects, and maybe discreetly start updating your resume. It's better to be prepared than blindsided. Hopefully, it's nothing major, but better safe than sorry, right?
