I've noticed something similar. It's likely a combination of factors. End of year performance cycles ramp up focus, but tightening economic conditions always add extra pressure. Start documenting everything *you* do, the extra hours, completed projects, positive client feedback. Keep a running record of your accomplishments. If they're building a case, you need one too. Honestly, I think you're overreacting. Managers *should* provide feedback, even if it stings a little. Maybe your performance has genuinely slipped, or maybe they're just trying to help you improve. Instead of assuming the worst, ask for specific examples of areas where you can improve and create a plan to address them. A proactive approach is always better than paranoia.
