Anyone else noticing the travel freeze?

Is it just my department, or is everyone getting their travel requests shot down lately? Even client-facing trips that were previously greenlit are suddenly getting the 'review pending' treatment from finance. It feels like we’re being squeezed on every single line item right now. I’ve been through a few cycles at Albemarle and this usually precedes a broader announcement. Everyone is acting like it’s business as usual, but the mood in the hallways is definitely shifting. Are you guys seeing this in Operations or are they still funding projects over there?

Same here in my group. It started last month with the 'review pending' status on basic travel, and now even essential site visits are being blocked. Management keeps talking about strategic priorities, but the tightening of the belt feels more aggressive this time. I’ve seen this pattern before, and it’s usually the precursor to a major restructure or headcount reduction. If they’re hitting travel this hard, nobody is safe. Just keep your resume updated and stay quiet for now.

You aren’t imagining it. I’ve had three client trips denied this quarter despite them being tied to active projects. It’s definitely not just your department; finance is clearly holding the leash tight across the entire company. It’s frustrating because it makes doing our jobs nearly impossible, but they seem more focused on protecting the balance sheet than operational efficiency right now. Just watch your step and don't expect things to loosen up until at least the next earnings call.
