Feeling the squeeze on discretionary spend

It’s getting a bit ridiculous. I’ve had three separate travel requests denied in the last month that were previously standard for my role. When I asked about the policy shift, the response was basically 'focus on core deliverables only.' It’s the same old story—everyone is acting like things are business as usual, but the gatekeeping on even the smallest expenses is telling a different story. I’ve seen this pattern before at other firms right before they announce a 'restructuring' or 'synergy' plan. It’s hard to stay focused on long-term projects when you’re constantly worried that the rug is going to get pulled out from under you. If anyone has heard anything concrete about budget targets for the rest of the year, please chime in. At this rate, I’m just updating my resume as a precaution. Better to be prepared than caught off guard when the inevitable memo drops.
