Is it just me or are hiring freezes happening at Albemarle?

I've been trying to get an internal transfer approved for months, and it keeps getting pushed back. My hiring manager said they're on a 'temporary pause' for all new hires, even internal ones. Then I heard from a friend in another division that their team hasn't been allowed to backfill any open positions for the last quarter. Seems like budgets are being tightened more than they're letting on publicly. Anyone else experiencing this or heard similar rumors about hiring freezes across the board?

I'm seeing similar things in my department. We had a couple of roles open up last quarter, and HR basically told the hiring managers they couldn't even post them externally, let alone bring anyone new in. It's definitely more than just a rumor; the internal communication has been pretty vague, but the impact is real. It's frustrating when you're trying to move around internally and the doors feel like they're closing. Hopefully, it's truly temporary, but it's hard to say with the current market conditions.

I haven't heard anything concrete about a full hiring freeze, but there's definitely a noticeable slowdown. My team was looking to bring on a couple of junior folks, and it's taken way longer than usual to get approvals. The process feels more scrutinized, and there's a lot more emphasis on 'critical hires' only. I'd suggest keeping a close eye on internal job boards and talking directly to your HR business partner about the specifics of your transfer. Sometimes individual department budgets have different flexibilities.
