Is the silence from leadership normal lately?

Has anyone else noticed how quiet the internal comms have been over the past few weeks? Usually, we get a steady stream of updates regarding the lithium outlook or project milestones, but it feels like everything has hit a brick wall. I’ve been trying to gauge if this is just standard corporate consolidation or if something bigger is brewing behind the scenes. My manager is suddenly impossible to pin down for 1:1s, and the tone in our last department meeting felt strangely detached. I’m not trying to spread FUD, but the lack of transparency is starting to make the rumor mill go into overdrive. Are we just waiting for the next quarterly results to see if there's a pivot, or is there a general sense of 'hunker down' across the other business units? If you’re in a different segment, are you seeing any shifts in budget approvals or travel restrictions? It feels like we are all just watching the clock at this point.

It is definitely not just you. The lack of visibility lately is unsettling, especially given the volatility in lithium pricing. Usually, management is eager to spin any news, so this sudden radio silence feels like the calm before a storm. I’ve noticed the same detached vibe in my department, and it feels like leadership is hunkered down waiting for a major shift in strategy or perhaps another round of restructuring. Keep your eyes open, because the disconnect between the floor and the C-suite has never felt this wide.

Honestly, I wouldn't overthink it too much. Corporate comms tend to go quiet whenever there are sensitive negotiations or board-level decisions happening that they can’t legally disclose yet. It is likely just legal being extra cautious to avoid any market panic or premature leaks. If they are dodging 1:1s, it is usually because they have no information to share yet and don’t want to deal with the pressure of us asking questions they aren't allowed to answer. Just keep your head down and ride it out.
