Quiet hiring freeze or something more?

Feeling like things have really slowed down here over the last quarter. Usually, we'd be backfilling roles pretty quickly, but it seems like positions are staying open for ages. Hiring managers are getting pushback on even internal transfers, and new headcount requests are getting shot down immediately. Is anyone else noticing this? Feels like a pretty aggressive hiring freeze, but there's no official word. Just a lot of 'delays' and 're-evaluations' from HR and leadership. Makes you wonder what's really going on behind the scenes. Are they just being cautious, or is this the prelude to something bigger? My team is already stretched thin, and not being able to bring in fresh talent is starting to bite.

Definitely noticed the slowdown. It’s been really quiet on the recruiting front, and the silence from leadership about it is deafening. My team is stretched thin because we can’t get approvals to bring in new folks, even for critical roles. Feels like we're being asked to do more with less, and the 're-evaluations' are starting to feel like a permanent state of limbo. Hope we get some clarity soon because it's impacting morale.

Yeah, it's not just you. The 'delays' are becoming the norm. We had a promising candidate for a senior position that just completely evaporated after weeks of back-and-forth. It's frustrating when you see talent slipping away because of internal roadblocks. It makes you question the company's growth strategy if they're suddenly hesitant to invest in people. Hopefully, this is just a temporary pause and not a sign of bigger issues.
