The vibe at the office is definitely shifting

Has anyone else noticed that the general morale in the halls is basically in the basement? I walked through the common area today and it was dead silent. People aren't even bothering with the usual 'how was your weekend' small talk anymore; everyone just looks like they’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve heard rumors of a couple of teams being 'realigned,' which we all know is corporate speak for headcount reduction. I’m trying to keep my head down and just stack as much cash as I can, but the lack of transparency is grating. If they are going to do it, just rip the band-aid off so we can stop living in this state of anxiety. I’ve already started dusting off my resume and updating my LinkedIn profile just in case. Don't be surprised if we hear something by mid-month. Stay safe out there, everyone.

It is definitely noticeable. The silence in the office is almost heavy at this point, and you can practically cut the tension with a knife. I’ve stopped engaging in any meaningful conversation because I'm just waiting for the next round of announcements. It feels like we are all just marking time until the inevitable happens, and frankly, the lack of transparency from leadership is making everyone even more paranoid. I'm doing the same thing: keeping my head down, meeting my deadlines, and keeping my resume updated just in case.
