Navigating career growth with current company direction

Feeling a bit uncertain about my career path at Align right now. The recent emphasis on [specific product/initiative, e.g., 'digital workflows'] is clear, but I'm struggling to see how my current role aligns with long-term growth opportunities, especially if the focus continues to narrow. It feels like some areas are getting all the attention while others are being left behind. Has anyone else had conversations with their managers about career progression in this evolving landscape? Trying to understand if there are internal mobility options or if developing skills in the 'hot' areas is the only way forward. It's hard to plan when the company's strategic direction feels like it's shifting under our feet.

I'm in a similar boat, honestly. My manager has been pretty good about discussing where the company *says* we're going, but connecting that to my day-to-day and future prospects feels like a stretch sometimes. It's easy to feel like you're on a sinking ship if your area isn't the 'hot' one. Have you tried to proactively identify skills that might be transferable even if your current project fades?

This is a tough spot to be in. While I understand the frustration, companies do shift focus. It might be worth evaluating if your skills are truly becoming obsolete, or if there's a way to reframe your current contributions to highlight their long-term value, even within the new direction. Sometimes it's about adapting your pitch, not necessarily changing your entire role.
