Are budgets tighter than usual for Q3/Q4?

Seeing a lot of requests for justification on even minor expenditures lately. Travel is getting scrutinized harder than ever, and there's a general slowdown on approving new hires, even for critical roles. My manager is being cagey about it, just saying 'we're being prudent with resources.' This feels more than just standard cost-saving. Anyone else in [Another Department, e.g., Marketing/IT/HR] seeing similar budget constraints? Makes me wonder if there's something bigger brewing behind the scenes, or if it's just the current economic climate hitting us hard. Trying to plan for upcoming projects and it's tough with these limitations.

Totally on the same page. My manager also mentioned 'resource optimization' when we discussed some Q4 initiatives. It sounds like a general corporate directive rather than a departmental issue. We've even had to re-evaluate some of our vendor contracts to see if there are more cost-effective alternatives. It's making planning feel a bit like walking on eggshells, trying to justify every dollar spent.
