Middle management looks nervous

Something is definitely shifting. I was in a meeting yesterday and caught my director looking completely shell-shocked after coming out of a closed-door session with HR. It’s like they aren't even trying to hide the stress anymore. Usually, they do a decent job of putting on the 'everything is fine' face, but the cracks are showing. We haven't had a town hall in forever, and the lack of communication is honestly worse than a straight-up announcement at this point. Everyone is just sitting around waiting for the other foot to drop. If they are planning to trim the fat, I wish they’d just rip the band-aid off so we can stop wasting energy guessing who is on the chopping block. Just wondering if anyone has heard whispers of a Q4 restructuring plan or if I’m just reading too much into the office gloom.

I've noticed the same thing in my department. The lack of transparency from the top is creating a toxic vacuum where everyone is just whispering and speculating. If they aren't going to hold a town hall or at least send out a vague 'business as usual' email, they should expect productivity to continue tanking. It feels like we are all just waiting for the other shoe to drop, and honestly, the uncertainty is worse than any restructuring plan could be. Hang in there, but keep your resume updated just in case.
