Middle management seems extra anxious lately

Has anyone else noticed the vibe shift in the last couple of weeks? I’ve been at Allegion for a few years now, and the atmosphere feels different. Normally, leadership is all about pushing the 'winning' narrative, but in the last three meetings, the tone has been bizarrely defensive. They keep harping on 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning resources'—which we all know is corporate speak for cleaning house. My manager usually has an open-door policy, but lately, he’s been constantly in closed-door calls with HR and people from the regional office. Every time I walk past the conference room, they clam up immediately. There’s been a total freeze on any new project approvals, even for the stuff that’s supposed to be our 'top priority' for Q4. I’m not saying there’s a formal RIF announcement incoming, but the frantic energy coming from the top down suggests they’re scrambling to trim the budget before year-end. Is anyone else seeing this in your specific vertical, or am I just reading too much into the usual end-of-quarter pressure?
