My department's budget got slashed. Anyone else?

Seriously, what's going on with Allegion's finances? My manager had a meeting with us last week and basically told us our budget for the next fiscal year is going to be significantly reduced. Like, cut by almost 30%. He was pretty vague on the reasons, just saying 'economic headwinds' and 'strategic refocusing.' It means no new hires for us, and a lot of our planned projects are on hold indefinitely. Feels like a precursor to something bigger, and frankly, it's making me really anxious about job security. Anyone in other departments seeing similar budget cuts? Is this a company-wide thing or just our division getting squeezed?

Yeah, I'm seeing similar things here. We were told to expect 'belt-tightening measures' across the board. It's frustrating because we've hit all our targets and then some, but apparently, that's not enough to justify current spending levels. Makes you wonder if the leadership's priorities are aligned with the day-to-day operations that actually generate revenue. Hoping it's just a temporary adjustment and not a sign of deeper issues.

That's rough, a 30% cut is substantial. My team hasn't had direct cuts announced, but there's definitely a freeze on discretionary spending and a very skeptical look at any new requests, even for essential software updates. The 'strategic refocusing' excuse is really starting to get old. It feels like a lot of departments are being squeezed while others might be getting preferential treatment. The lack of transparency is definitely creating a lot of unease.
