Yeah, I've noticed a similar shift at Allegion. The focus on 'efficiency' feels like it's being weaponized more than leveraged for actual improvement. It's like they're trying to justify headcount reductions or something, which is a terrible way to approach performance discussions. Makes people feel insecure and less likely to take risks or be innovative, which is the opposite of what a company should want.
That sounds rough. It's disheartening when the review process, which should be about growth and recognizing contributions, turns into an interrogation. Maybe try to document your accomplishments and positive feedback extensively beforehand. Having concrete examples might help push back against overly critical or nitpicky feedback, especially if it feels like it's coming out of nowhere. Good luck with it.
