Is it just me or is the workload increasing significantly?

Lately, it feels like my plate is overflowing. Projects that used to have more lead time are now 'urgent,' and it seems like the same amount of work is being distributed among fewer people. I've noticed fewer new hires coming in, and some teams look a bit leaner than they did even six months ago. Management's official line is always about 'efficiency,' but it's starting to feel like a polite way of saying 'do more with less.' Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just my department, or is this a company-wide trend? I'm starting to worry about burnout and what this means for long-term stability. Any advice on how to navigate this would be appreciated. Just want to understand if I'm overreacting or if this is a real shift.

I've definitely felt that crunch too. It's like the 'urgent' label has become the default setting for everything. Trying to juggle multiple high-priority items without adequate resources is a recipe for burnout. I'm wondering if there's a strategic shift happening that we aren't privy to, or if it's just a temporary surge. Either way, it's making it tough to maintain quality and feel accomplished at the end of the day.

You're not alone. The feeling of being stretched too thin is palpable across several areas. The pressure to deliver on tighter deadlines with fewer hands on deck is a constant challenge. It's frustrating when the expectation is to just 'figure it out' without additional support. I'm curious if any proactive solutions or creative staffing approaches are being considered to alleviate this strain.
