Is there any department left that's 'safe'?

I’ve been at Allstate for over six years, and the atmosphere in the office has completely shifted. It used to be a place you could actually envision a long-term career, but now it feels like every single day is a countdown. With the constant news of site closures and these recurring layoffs, how is everyone keeping their sanity? I’m seeing people with decades of tenure just being cut loose without a second thought. I’ve started looking at the external job market, but the insurance industry in general seems to be contracting everywhere. Is anyone else looking to pivot to a completely different sector, or are we all just waiting for our number to get called? Just looking for some perspective on how people are coping with the constant uncertainty.

Honestly, it feels like nowhere is safe anymore. I’ve been watching the same patterns, and the loyalty just isn't there on the leadership side. It's tough to stay motivated when you see long-term employees getting shown the door like they're just numbers on a spreadsheet. My advice is to keep your head down, do what you have to do, but definitely prioritize your exit strategy. Don't wait for the ax to fall before you start networking. There's life after this place, and you deserve a spot where you aren't constantly looking over your shoulder.
