Departmental reorg whispers

Heard from a source in HR that there’s a deck circulating regarding 'operational efficiencies.' Whenever leadership starts using that specific terminology, we all know what comes next. It’s not just the standard corporate jargon—people are being told that certain legacy programs are under 'strategic review.' We’ve been seeing a lot of contract workers being phased out over the last few weeks, and usually, the full-time staff isn’t far behind when they start tightening the belt this aggressively. The vibe during the all-hands was incredibly stiff; the leadership team looked like they were reading from a script and dodging every single question about job security. If you’re at Alnylam, now is the time to start networking externally. Better to have your ducks in a row now rather than waiting for that calendar invite for a 'mandatory meeting' that shows up on a Friday afternoon. Stay alert, folks.

It is the same old story. Every time leadership mentions 'operational efficiencies,' it feels like a countdown to bad news. I have noticed the same trend with the contract staff being let go recently, and it really creates a toxic, paranoid environment where everyone is constantly looking over their shoulder. If they are already putting legacy programs under strategic review, it is clear that they are shifting focus toward a handful of key assets at the expense of everyone else. I am not optimistic about the next few months.
