It’s been an open secret for months that the middle ranks are just biding their time. When you see managers actively avoiding substantive conversations about the roadmap, it’s clear they either don’t know what’s coming or they’ve already mentally checked out. The silence from the top makes it impossible to blame them for coasting, but it definitely leaves the rest of us in a difficult position. If the strategy is as murky as it feels, morale is going to continue to crater until they finally rip the bandage off.
Honestly, the shift in management behavior is palpable. It used to be that you could get a straight answer, but now it’s all scripted corporate jargon that tells you absolutely nothing. They are clearly operating in self-preservation mode, terrified of saying the wrong thing while the internal climate remains so volatile. Everyone is just trying to survive until the next round of restructuring, and until there is some actual transparency from leadership, don't expect anyone in the middle to start sticking their necks out for the company.
