I'm in AWS, and yeah, things have been strangely quiet. We had a similar period last year before a small layoff hit our team. The vague project talk and closed-door meetings are definitely red flags. Start updating your resume and quietly reaching out to your network. It's always better to be prepared, just in case the rumors are true. Good luck!
Honestly, every year around review time someone starts these rumors. It's practically a tradition at Amazon. While it's good to be aware, don't jump to conclusions. It could be completely unrelated to layoffs. Maybe your manager is dealing with a personal issue. Focus on your work, get solid performance reviews, and try not to stress too much about things you can't control. Easier said than done, I know!
