Heard Whispers About a Re-Org in AWS - Should I Jump Ship?

Been at Amazon (AWS) for almost 5 years now, a Solutions Architect. I've been hearing some serious whispers about a potential re-org coming down the pipeline, and honestly, it has me sweating. My team's been relatively stable, but there's always that underlying fear, you know? I've seen this happen to other teams before – promises of 'alignment' and 'synergy' that really just mean people getting shuffled around or worse, let go. Anyone else hearing similar rumblings, especially in AWS? Is it time to start polishing up the resume and quietly looking for something else, or am I just being paranoid? The benefits are good here, but peace of mind is worth more, right?

Yep, heard similar things circulating within my org (also AWS). It's hard to say how much is just paranoia and how much is real, but the anxiety is definitely contagious. 5 years is a good chunk of time, so maybe start quietly exploring external options *just in case*. Better to be prepared than scrambling later. Brush up that resume and see what's out there, if anything good hits the mark, make the jump! Good luck whatever happens.

Re-orgs are practically a quarterly event at Amazon, so I wouldn't panic *too* much. However, you're right to be cautious after 5 years. If your team is profitable, don't sweat it. If you are in a cost center, start digging on what the other teams are doing and see where you could provide value. In the meantime, I always update my resume and have a look around to keep my interview skills fresh.
