Yep, heard similar things circulating within my org (also AWS). It's hard to say how much is just paranoia and how much is real, but the anxiety is definitely contagious. 5 years is a good chunk of time, so maybe start quietly exploring external options *just in case*. Better to be prepared than scrambling later. Brush up that resume and see what's out there, if anything good hits the mark, make the jump! Good luck whatever happens.
Re-orgs are practically a quarterly event at Amazon, so I wouldn't panic *too* much. However, you're right to be cautious after 5 years. If your team is profitable, don't sweat it. If you are in a cost center, start digging on what the other teams are doing and see where you could provide value. In the meantime, I always update my resume and have a look around to keep my interview skills fresh.
